Trent Walton on Forward Thinking Experimentation

Trent Walton is awesome, and a man after my own heart. In his recent blog post, Quoting Lebowski, he opines:

A pet peeve of mine is seeing blog comments or tweets neigh-saying innovative strides in web development. I see the issue of cross-browser compatibility to be completely separate from forward thinking experimentation. This is about progress, which is essential to our industry. It’s like saying, “Those compact discs sound amazing, but they won’t fit in my tape deck.”

Right on, brother! He’s made a desktop wallpaper image to neatly summarise his feelings on the matter.

This is exactly why I started this blog. I kept discovering inspiring experiments by web designers and developers, hidden away in modest websites, that demonstrated creativity, smarts, and a sense of fun. These are techniques that will inform web page design and construction a few years from now. And, I thought that someone should be cataloging these things!
